Client FAQs
What is required of me as a client?
To consider what you want to get from each coaching session. A typical session may begin with a review from the previous session followed by the question, “What do you want from today?”
To be open with me so that the approach helps you.
To be open to disclosure and sharing your thoughts and feelings.
To be open to seeing things differently and trying new approaches.
To say if something is not working for you.
To take responsibility and accountability for your goals and learning: I see coaching as a partnership, I will support you to find the answers and you are responsible for applying and embedding the learning.
To complete tasks and homework assignments. These are usually designed to a.) increase awareness of current lifestyle b.) support motivation of desired changes c.) expand choices and behavioural flexibility.
When can I have a coaching session?
Sessions will be arranged at mutually convenient times. As I also undertake corporate consultancy and deliver training courses appointments my availability can vary week to week. I do not offer regular ‘same time each week’ sessions.
The frequency of sessions will vary for each client and may change as the coaching progresses. On very rare occasions we may need to reschedule your appointment.
Where?
I currently offer coaching sessions via video call or telephone. Video calls can be via Zoom, Teams or Whatsapp.
How long is a session?
A typical session is 1 hour or 90 mins. This depends on the nature of the Coaching and is agreed at the outset of any coaching programme.
Fees
For Executive and Professional Coaching I usually agree a programme of sessions and invoice for these at one time. Payment is usually made via BACS.
Cancellation
48 hours cancellation notice is required to reschedule any single session without charge. With my Executive coaching packages 24 hours notice is required for rescheduling.
Professional Responsibilities
I am a qualified and experienced Coach and bound by ANLP and Association for Coaching (AC) codes of ethics and conduct. To maintain standards of professionalism, and to work within my scope of practice, I may discuss the case anonymously during formal supervision of caseload.
Confidentially
The power of the relationship is based on honest, direct and personal conversations. All information disclosed is confidential with the exception of where I believe the client or another is a danger to self or others, where minors (under 18) are involved or if disclosure is ordered by a judge, coroner or other official having such power.
I may make written notes during the session; these will be kept securely.
When and how will the coaching relationship end?
The duration of the coaching is determined by each client. Typically a coaching relationship will be complete when the client feels he or she has achieved the outcomes that were agreed at the start of the coaching. It can also be the case that that a new coaching agreement is made with new outcomes in mind.
Whenever the coaching concludes I usually suggest that a review of progress is useful to help embed the important learnings and to continue the trajectory of progress in the future. This may be a separate session or as part of the final session.
