I offer training in Coaching for people wanting to become Coaches or to use a Coaching style and approach as part of their work.

For example, many managers and leaders recognise the benefits of a coaching style and want to learn coaching skills to help them be more effective with their teams.

I also offer 1-1 Supervision for practising Coaches who are working with clients.

Coach Training

I do not offer any ‘off the shelf’ training packages and all my Coach training is bespoke, designed for each client and organisation with their specific needs and outcomes in mind. Coaching can be used and applied in many ways and I offer a tailor-made training service which ensures the learning is directly applicable.

Within my training approach I do have some core beliefs which underpin any work that I do and I believe Coaching training must quickly move beyond theory and knowledge and be grounded in practical experience. The experiential nature of the training is important both for learning to coach and being coached.

Learning to coach others involves a number of advanced skills and a high level of self-awareness on the part of the coach. Both of these are best developed through repeated practise, feedback and reflection. I find that a layered approach works best with exposure to new ideas followed by practical experience and opportunities to apply the learning in the workplace.

As part of a training programme participants will have the experience of being coached and I believe this is fundamental to the success of the learning. Being a ‘coachee’ helps participants to recognise the power and value of coaching and this is central to the attitudinal shift that is required in Coaching. As people experience the value of being coached themselves they will be more likely to engage in coaching with others and truly understand the power of a coaching style.

Coaching Supervision

What is Coaching Supervision?

Supervision is an opportunity to have a confidential conversation to reflect on actual practice and for the coach to gain knowledge, strategies and insights.

Coaching Supervision understands that while the observable business of coaching is going on – meetings, contracting, coaching conversations and coaching sessions – it is people who do the talking and thus, who and how we are in the conversation, affects outcomes. This ‘who and how we are’ piece is mostly unobservable from the outside but can have significant impact on effectiveness.

Coaching Supervision can be considered a combination of mentoring, coaching and support to enable coaches to be intelligent about creating effective conversations in every ‘coaching moment’.
